This year’s results of the ''ICT Usage and E-Commerce in Enterprises, 2013'' show several interesting facts of how fast Cyprus is adapting to the digital era and the vast percentage of enterprises that choose to invest in a digital presence, digital marketing, e-commerce and social media.
For this year’s survey, 1.360 enterprises with 10 or more employees in specific categories of economic activity participated, while the data were collected with personal interviews. Those enterprises covered all the government controlled areas of the Republic of Cyprus and the reference period was January 2013.
The main results of the survey are the following:
56.2% mobile broadband connection usage showing increase in 2013 (49.0% in 2012)
57.9% of the enterprises that provide their employees with portable devices that allow a mobile connection to the Internet for business increased in 2013 (49.2% in 2012)
75.6% of the enterprises have maximum contracted download speed between 2Mbit/s and 10Mbit/s
17.8% of the enterprises have maximum contracted download speed between 10Mbit/s and 30Mbit/s (7.6% in 2012)
41.0% of the enterprises are using social media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, etc)
72.8% of the enterprises that are using social media is large enterprises
88.0% of the enterprises set the development of the enterprise image or market products as their main reason for using social media
70.8% of the enterprises that have a website increased in 2013 (7.4% in 2012)
95.0% of the enterprises with a website that offer access to product catalogues and price lists
8.4% is the percentage of enterprises that accepted orders through e-commerce
13.2% is the percentage of enterprises that placed orders decreases in 2013 (and using computers) (18.6% in 2012)
